The Mechanical Designer performs new and revised product design using computer-aided design (CAD) equipment. Prepares completed layouts for final product design from simple sketches. Determines scale, performs complex mathematical calculations, and prepares layouts for detailing. Makes decisions regarding design suitability using knowledge of specified product materials and production processes. Requires thorough knowledge of drafting techniques, engineering terminology, and manufacturing materials. Must be willing to learn how to read electronic schematics and printed circuit board layout and routing.

Qualifications
  • Education: Associate of Science degree in Computer Aided Design or degree in similar field. Lacking a relevant degree, 5+ years SolidWorks experience.  Desired GPA of 3.0 or higher. Proof of transcripts required. 
  • Work Experience: Strongly prefer a candidate with 2+ years of SolidWorks experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience working with stainless steel and aluminum sheet metal. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). 

  • Stability: MUST have a history of prior stable employment.

  • Teamwork: Must have have the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Other:: Looking for positive people who can contribute to a positive work environment. Willingness to learn new skills, including PCB layout and routing.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • • Create solid model 3D concepts and detailed assembly drawings using SolidWorks
  • • Create detailed manufacturing drawings for fabricated parts
  • • Generate and organize assembly instructions and bills of materials for in-house manufacturing
  • • Utilize GDP (Good Documentation Practices) concepts and principles
  • • Process Engineering Change Orders (ECO's)
  • • Take direction from and provide feedback to Electronics Engineers
  • • Assist production to enhance documentation and design for improved efficiency
  • • Consult with suppliers and engineering team to ensure high quality designs
  • • Evaluate prototype performance and suitability
  • • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
Physical and Other Requirements
  • • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

  • • Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods required.

  • • Must be able to use a mouse and type at 30+ wpm.
